Finally, the angel bent over and ran her finger across the cheek of the Firefighter. "There's a leak", she pronounced.
"Lord, it's a tear."
"What's the tear for?" asked the angel.
"It's a tear from bottled-up emotions for fallen comrades. A tear for commitment to that funny piece of cloth called the American Flag. It's a tear for all the pain and suffering they have encountered. And it's a tear for their commitment to caring for and saving lives of their fellow man!"
"What a wonderful feature Lord, you're a genius" said the angel.
The Lord looked somber and said "I didn't put it there."

Our prayers and thoughts are with the families and friends of our fallen brothers.

As a former Salisbury Firefighter, words alone cannot express the deepest sorrow in my heart. Today I lost two bothers in the fire service. My prayers go out to the other firefighters that were injured for a speedy recovery. May god watch over you all in this desperate time of need.

On behalf of Piedmont-Triad Ambulance & Rescue and the Thomasville Rescue Squad, I'd like to send my condolences to the families, loved ones, friends, and coworkers of those who lost their lives today. And for those who were injured but survived, I pray for a speedy recovery. As a former volunteer fireman in Davidson County, NC, I (like so many others) am deeply saddened by this loss. I didn't know these heroes, but I have friends who did. My prayers are with everyone during this time of need.
