Of course. The day we are doing practicals at the academy for hittin hydrants we are supposed to get heavy snow with 1 to 3 inches poss. Oh well train like you play. Not every fire scene is going to be ideal, I don't mind the snow It makes you more aware I think, But it will be fun watching some of the juniors in the class fumble and learn. I find it funny I am almost 30 and there are kids in my class that are not even able to drive yet. Don't get me wrong I'm not dissing the juniors They are the future of the fire service out here. I may be taking the class just like they are but In the short time I have been with my department I have picked up alot of tricks. And these tricks I do pass on to the juniors of my class esp when I see them doing the same thing I was doing, it works for me it may work for them. Its all about absorbing the information and finding what works for you. But the funny thing I have seen is the amount of probies and juniors alike that started the class and I dont see them any more. yes classroom work sucks but you need to know the theory and reasoning behind everything we do. If you think learning form the old smoke eaters in your department is enough, you still have alot to learn. plus if you dont get these classes you will be forever stuck on the out side and off the hose. I may only be a volunteer But I take my work with the fire department serious. The community expects us to be prepaired for any thing at any time and we have to deliver. And the only way to do it is train. get the certificates, qualifications, and most important experience. It will come in handy save your life and someone elses life too.
Well I have gone off on a tangent haven't I. Oh well I should get back to studying for the test sat.
