Joe Elam, Ass't Training Director for the Edmond (OK) Fire Dept, was quoted in an article by reporter Diana Baldwin in today's Daily Oklahoman, about the current 24 week Edmond fire academy which wraps up next month. The recruits rebuilt a house they burned during training. "This way," Elam said, "they will be able to hit the ground running." The house will now be available for further training exercises. The newspaper article was complete with two large full color photographs of the recruits at work putting the wet stuff on the hot stuff during the academy.
The residents of Edmond are fortunate to have one of the best trained and best equipped departments this old firefighter has ever seen. And the same can be said for the Edmond Police Department. It's a great town that will try hard to provide the resources needed for this kind of protection.
But I'm sure there's still more the town can do.
