FDNY firefighters were put to the test on December 21, 2007 when they faced an apartment fire with civilians inside. Firefighters utilized a portable ladder and were able to get the trapped civilians to safety. The fire was located on the North Side of the Bruckner Expressway near Rosedale Avenue (Thanks N. DeMarse). "L-54's OV & CHFF threw the portable ladder with assistance from members of Ladder 47. Ladder 54's inside team also removed the female victim (shown at the window) via the interior. Engine 96 made a great push on the fire. There were no standpipes at this building"...which made the situation even more complicated.
