i had my first fire at work 2 weeks ago today, a hot billett fell under a press and ignited a shovel in the basement and the oil under the floor grates, now i see why the said you never turn your back on a fire. i used 2 dry chem extinguishers. after i used the first one the fire flashed up on me, and again after the second one, until i was able to get a hose line to knock it down

the only ppe i had was an MSA AIRHAWK industrial air pack.

i had no head protection, a polyester shirt and pants with two layers of sweats underneath and alone into a confined space
which should have flashed

first of all no hard feelings. second of all my worksite does not supply any type of ppe except bloodborne and respirtory
also my co-worker had to stay at the security desk incase it did hit the fan which it could have if i had taken the time to go to my truck and grab the city owned gear i carry not to mention i did not have a full bottle and it seemed to last ten minutes
