As long as i can remember i have wanted nothing more than to be a firefighter/paramedic. Last year that dream came true. I have witnessed compassion and evil at its worst level. I was born to be a firefighter but as of last week a diagnosis of hypertension and chronic high bloodpressure has left my board of directors no choice but to remove me from duty. I have given 110% to being a firefighter and more than anything i am proud to have worn the uniform. You stand out in a crowd you are the bravest of all men and women i love you all and i can promise you this i will do everything in my power to be able to pass my anual checkup in the future so i can return to duty but until then i am no longer a firefighter and so i have no rite on this website i will read the posts for the next few days incase any of you want to say goodbye but I will be back some day till then save who you can and pray for the rest

Were it not for the miracles of medicine, half the fire service would be on the sidelines.
Get the BP fixed and get back in your bunkers.
I have been taking BP meds for 30 years. Ain't nothing to it.
And last time I looked, you don't lose your rights to this site due to a medical condition.
In the meantime, stay involved. When you get your medical OK to return, you don't want a lot of make up homework! (wink)

I agree with her. Once a firefighter, always a firefighter. Although not active duty, there is always stuff to do around the firehouse. Keep your head up and don't get discouraged. You have already passed the 'trial by fire' into the brother/sister hood. Do not feel you need to leave simply because of the medical problems.

Sweetheart, once a firefighter always a firefighter.....you have just as much right to be here as the rest of us.....As a firefighter, I've always considered my fellow firefighters as my brothers and sisters....therefore we are family and ALWAYS will be family. I would NEVER consider a member of my family as NOT being a member just because of medical problems. Actually, that is when we need to come together AS A FAMILY. Please don't leave the website. YOU ARE A PART OF OUR FAMILY AND YOU DESERVE TO BE HERE!!!!...I will keep you in my prayers.....and I look forward to seeing you on here more so I'm adding you to my friends list.
