Well, thanks to all who wished me well on my interview last week. Unfortunately, I got my rejection letter today. I can't help but be disappointed, but I'm trying to tell myself that it just just wasn't meant to be. It's a hard sell. I haven't had an interview in a long time, and I know I made some mistakes, so I guess this will be a learning experience for me, and I'll be more prepared next time. I was totally blindsided by some of the questions. Damn damn damn. Their loss, I guess. Back to the drawing board...Check out my comment below to see some of those questions.

Are you trying to stay in Ohio or willing to move out of state, better jobs west. Take a look at Publicsafety.com for lots of West Coast departments.

For those interested, I can remember some of those questions....Now, had I looked on the internet, I would have seen these coming. Whoops....

Q: What would you do if you were given an order that put your life or someone else's life in danger?

Q: Why are you interested in our department? (Yeah, I know....I should have seen that one coming a mile away.)

Q: How would you handle a citizen complaining about your department?

Q: What would you do if one of your coworkers was repeatedly making negative comments about your spouse even after you asked them to stop?

Q: What do you feel is the greatest challenge facing fire departments today?

Q: What role do you feel firefighters play in the community?

That's all I can think of right now.

Sorry to hear about your news. Dont give up. Too bad your in Ohio cause most fire companies in Pa would give you a membership in a heartbeat. But there are a few here that are like the departments where you are. How far from pa are you? Maybe you could join one to get some experience and use it to help you with your application process.
