This commemorative patch was designed to incorporate all of the elements that represent both the heritage and the future of the fire company as we celebrate 75 years of dedicated service to the Town of Evans community.

Using defined colors, shapes and symbols, we attempt to characterize what has made our fire company thrive for 75 years and the qualities that will ensure our success long into the future.

COLORS:

The green background is one of the original Evans Center colors, along with the bright yellow that is used as the first outline layer of the patch border and as the background color of the inner Maltese cross. The yellow is consistent with the color of our apparatus which, along with our diamond logo, essentially establishes our brand in the fire service.

Blue is used as an accent on the patch in the same way it is used to accent our diamond logo and lettering on our apparatus. The red outlines bring out a traditional color of the fire service and the white lettering in the fire company name is reminiscent of our original uniform colors of green, yellow and white.

SHAPES:

The inner design of the Maltese cross is a strong traditional icon of the fire service and represents the fire company itself. The eight points of the cross represent perseverance, loyalty, dexterity, explicitness, tact, observation, sympathy and gallantry.

The use of the outer blended Maltese cross shape symbolizes the fact that the fire company is an integral part of a larger, broader emergency services community and the true brotherhood of the fire service.

SYMBOLS:

The American Flag inset embodies our love of country and the ideal that the fire service makes up the very fabric of our nation.

The introduction of the American eagle is another great symbol of strength and independence. It also bonds us directly to the Lake Shore Central School District and the Town of Evans community in sharing the eagle as our mascot. The “married” irons (axe and halligan bar) held in the eagle’s talons are fire service symbols of strength, teamwork and unity.

The patch displays conventional hydrant and star-of-life shapes, representative of the firefighting and emergency medical services we provide to the community. These symbols are also a carry-over from our regular fire company patch.

Lastly, our ECVFC diamond logo integrated at the center of the patch has been on our apparatus since incorporation. It connects us to our proud history and serves as an icon of our bright future ahead.

Nicely done. I like the interpretation of the patch elements as well. Thanks for sharing it with us.
