we sadly regret the passing of a volunteer firefighter in Caledonia Ont Canada

GORDON, William Andrew (Drew) July 1, 1945 - August 18, 2008 On Monday, August 18, 2008, Drew passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family. Loving husband and precious soulmate of 25 years, Mary Angela (Doyle) by his side. Best friend to "Jack" his dog. Drew fought a long and courageous battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy for many years. Drew touched the hearts of many as he faced his disease with intense strength, endurance and kindness. Dear son of Eleanor and Bill (deceased) Gordon. Cherished brother to John and Doreen, Jeannie and Paul (Fiddement), Peggy and Brian (Baird), Jim and Marilyn. Treasured son-in-law of Mary and Bill (deceased) Doyle. Cherished brother-in-law of Bill and Chris Doyle, Dan and Joan Doyle, Theresa and Jack Pyke, Robert and Kate Doyle, Christine and Jamie Brooks. Uncle Drew will be sadly missed by 16 nieces and nephews. Drew will always be remembered for his love of social gatherings and his zest for life. Drew was a dedicated volunteer firefighter with the Caledonia Fire Department for 32 years, and a member of St. Andrew's Lodge #62 AF and AM Caledonia, Caledonia Men's Club, and assisted many years with Caledonia's "Robbie's Blazers" hockey team. A Special thank you to the wonderful people who made it possible for Drew to be at home, Dr. Allan Gunning, CCAC, St. Elizabeth, Careplus Nurses, and to Jackie and her health team. Visitation will be held in the Miller Funeral Chapel, Caledonia on Wednesday, August 20, 2008 from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. with a Masonic Service at 6:30 p.m. The Service will take place in the Chapel on Thursday, August 21, 2008 at 11 a.m. If so desired, donations may be made to the PSP Foundation or the charity of your choice. God saw he was getting tired. And a cure was not to be. So He put His arms around him and whispered, "Come to Me". With tearful hearts, we watched him fade away. Although we loved him dearly, we could not make him stay. A golden heart stopped beating. Hard working hands to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us. He only takes the best. "I Love You", Mary
