I wanted to say hello to everyone sense I have not been on here in a while, I have been working alot and trying to get some of my firefighting training done, so hopefully I will be able to keep in touch with everyone now! Everyone stay safe out there and God Bless You All!!!
Hope you have a great fourth of July..no fires, maybe?
I remember fighting fires on the fourth of July on 2001 in Oregon.
As a teen--In 1998, on the 4th of July--I jumped the fence in my shorty pajamas and sandals with hoses blazing to save my own house, as the local fire dept. was parked on the road above and had a hard time getting to the fire. The water dept had locked the gate down below. OOoops. Kids doing illegal fireworks in a dry field right above us.
I applied the water to the oncoming flames and to the side of my house. It was soon under control. Those 20 ft flames looked mean, but the were NOT going to get MY house. I was only 15 at the time. At 12 midnight the tired fire chief thanked me for helping me put out the fire. True story. See it in "Thirtymile Fire," and "Angel Promises," so you know I am not making it up!-Karen Lee FitzPatrick
It's probably not a good idea to put my personal address on this public site so email me at mschlags@yahoo.com and we will exchange addresses. I would love to trade one of my department shirts with you. Just let me know your size. Cheers!
