Firefighter was a childhood dream that just never died and my grandfather was a firefighter.
Why I Love Fire/EMS
the ability to help others instead of just standing and and feeling helpless. I also love the tradition, brotherhood, and challenge.
Top Issues Facing Responders:
Firefighter retention for volunteer departments, adequate funding of all departments, and continuous training within all departments. FIRE SAFETY EDUCATION!!!

Hey Wayne- I just joined the website and saw the back page about favorite firefighter books. I live in Malibu, spent 3 years with LACoFD and CalFire preparing a novel about a boy who comes of age as a wildland firefighter at a helitak camp (Camp 8 LA County). The book has been well received and Fire Chief P. Michael Freeman of the LACoFD liked it enough to send it to the County Board of Supervisors.
