My Training:: EMT-B, I really want to take more training but I have been on Medical leave since thanksgiving 2008 because of a knee problem. I'm not sure that I am going to be able to recover for thr knee problem enough to get back running and it's killing me.

About Me:: My husband and I volunteer with our local fire dept., my husband works for a private EMS company. I have been on medical leave since Thanksgiving 2008 for a knee problem.

Why I Joined Fire/EMS: After listening to my husband for over 3 years tell me how much I would love EMS. I decided to get my basic card so that my hubby and I could both volunteer for our local department. It was something that we could do together; then I got my card and hubby was right I love it. I can't wait to get my medic now. I have a bad knee which is keeping me from getting my fire card.

Why I Love Fire/EMS: everything, I can't pin point just one thing

Top Issues Facing Responders:: understaffing and people not open to change. People not taking training seriously. I know of a good handful of people that read the newspaper while the dept. is having EMS training.

I'm pretty new to EMS. My husband has been a EMT-I/firefighter for a long time. He has always told me how much he thought that I would like EMS. Well after listening to him for 3 years I decided to give it a try. I hate to admite to my husband that he was right but boy was he. I love EMS. I have had my basic card about a year now and I can't wait to take another EMS class and more forward. MY husband and I volunteer for our local fire dept. and we both work for a private company that does basically moblie ICU transports.

However they are very specific, so you have to abide by the time frame. Also they can make you stay at work once your there it is to there discression. I can find out more if you want?
