I am an active NSP patroller at Mt. Bachelor. I have Senior qualifications in Outdoor Emergency Care (OEC), Emergency Medical Management, and Mountain Rescue.
About Me:
I am Founder and CEO of Wild Red Energy, the official energy bar of the National Ski Patrol and the Association of Professional Patrollers. I live in Bend Oregon. Here is a recent article explaining my mission.
Wild Red Energy on the Market with Philanthropic Objective
As the global economy continues to present challenges most people might think this is the worst time to start a company. With for-profit companies down sizing at every turn, and non-profits struggling to fulfill their charters, logic would dictate ‘battening down the hatches’ and letting the storm pass over before starting a new enterprise.
Even before President Obama’s inaugural call to action, Bend, Oregon businessperson, Scott Warner, saw an opportunity. What about a for-profit company designed to help first responders, youth programs and non-profits? Warner, an active member of the National Ski Patrol, has had a life long passion for helping rescue units and back-country youth education programs. Understanding that non-profits like the National Ski Patrol, the Association of Professional Patrollers and other rescue organizations would struggle financially in the foreseeable future, he decided he needed a low cost entrance into the world market to help these groups.
Warner’s answer: Wild Red Energy. Wild Red Energy is the latest entry into the energy bar market. What makes this product unique is that Warner obtained the endorsement of the National Ski Patrol (NSP) and the Association of Professional Patrollers (APP). As the official energy bar of these organizations he was able to put their logos directly on his packaging. “We’re set up to give a portion of our annual revenue to first responder groups in the form of equipment, cash and supporting training efforts,” says Warner.
For Wild Red Energy the first step is to build a market presence and create demand. Warner’s social entrepreneurship objective has already opened up many doors. The next phase of Warner’s plan is to build awareness by launching the social network; Souldefiningmoments.com, scheduled to come online in fall of 2009.
Wild Red’s plan to build strategic alliances with selected non-profits like Campfire USA, Outward Bound and first responder groups is well underway. Both have expressed interest in building a strategic alliance and discussions with other groups has begun.
It takes a great deal of gumption to start a new company these days, especially one specifically designed to give back. Why Warner’s vision just might work is because his product is affordable and offers retailers a decent margin, but more importantly it gives back. “As we move through the impending challenges before us, hopefully more and more people and companies will embrace social entrepreneurship,” concludes Warner.

Why I Joined Fire/EMS
I have launched Wild Red Energy www.wildredenergy.com the official energy bar of the National Ski Patrol and the Association of Professional Patrollers. We donate a portion of our revenues to rescue organizations, youth programs and 1% for the Planet. With money becoming scarce for rescue organizations and youth programs I dedicated myself to social entrepreneurship to help all of us with an interest to serve others in need. WRE will be launching a new social network titled Souldefiningmoments.tv this fall. The collaboration and comradery we share is inspiring. WRE is committed to all who serve as first responders and alike. Thank you.
Why I Love Fire/EMS
I love the unselfish character of those I constantly come in contact with. The comradary is amazingly. The experience of serving those in need changes your life.
