About Me:

I am a communications consultant who has supported a variety of government agencies, including homeland security components that target response and recovery and first responder health and safety. I also help my dad (Richard Slepetz) with his company called Roto Rays Warning Lights, Inc. If you haven't seen a Roto Ray, it is comprised of three sealed beams (PAR 46 halogen or LED) that spin in a circle. They are usually mounted on the front of a rig below the windshield, although you will still see many mounted on top of the windshield or to the side on a pole on many antique rigs. The light has been around since the 1920's and Dad bought the orignal patents and existing parts back in the early 70's from the Buckeye Iron & Brass works of Dayton, Ohio. The company had closed but produced nozzles, fittings and the Buckeye Roto Ray. Dad loved the light and has redesigned and modernized the product to suit the needs of modern apparatus. He does all production, repairs and rebuilds in his garage shop. This used to be a part-time job for him until he retired from the fire department. While the light is very popular along the East Coast, it is used across the U.S. and in Canada. This is a labor of love for him and each is hand-crafted and tested my Mr. Roto Ray himself. They are particularly effective at inspiring folks to get out of the way of responding emergency equipment, and are excellent for areas where there is poor to no lighting (rural communities).
