About Me:: Well, My name is Michael Thornburg aka ( TANK ). I am 36 yrs old. I live in Mosheim, Tennessee. I am married to a wonderful woman who is a Respiratory Therapist at Takoma Hospital. She works really crazy hours. We have two children; boy and girl. Our son is 11 yrs old and fixing to be in the 6 th grade. Our daughter is 6 yrs old and she is fixing to be in the 1 st grade. I am currently unemployeed. I am trying to get back into school and get into the EMS program. It is not what I really want as far as a career job but it is in the same field; ( Emergency Response ). I have tried several times to get a job as a Career Firefighter but have come up empty handed.

Why I Joined Fire/EMS: Several years ago, ( around 8 or 9 yrs. ) there was a fire right next to my grandparents house. By the time I was informed of this information it was getting told too me that my grandparents house was on fire. When I got to their house, I found out that it was not their house but the neighbors barn next too their house. At that point I wanted to be able to try and help people from something that most people have a fear of. Sense I have been in the Department that I am in, I have responded to every call that I was able to respond to; ( in other words, where work or kids or being out of town would yeild me from being able to respond ).

Why I Love Fire/EMS: Cause it makes me feel good to know that I can do something for somebody and it gives me the chance to do something that I enjoy doing.

Top Issues Facing Responders:: Never knowing exactly what we are responding to - The Public - Low Funding - Not Having Enough Personnel on Scene.
