- Why I Joined Fire/EMS
- I have been around the fire department for as long as I can remember, my father was a volunteer, and my uncle is paid, I used to go to the firehouse all the time when I was little, I have just always known what I wanted to do. I joined the Explorer post and started my FF1 and FF2 when i was still in high schoool.

My name is Leigha, I am 19 years old, I have been active in the fire service for about 3 years, but it has always been huge with my family. Both me and my brother are Explorers with St. Charles City Fire Department in Missouri. We actually respond with the paid firefighters to both fire and EMS calls. I have my FF1 and FF2. So I actually get to do more than watch!

These entry level positions require no previous experience. Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school. A GED is acceptable.
