EMT-B, Farm Rescue, and other various training courses hoping to finish cert soon.
About Me:
I am a volunteer because as much as i love being a Firefighter/EMT I am a mom first and volunteer lets me use the skills I have been given and still put my family first! I am with Rineyville fire and rescue because its my hometown, it where I know the community and feel i should be helping!
Day Job:
A mom, wife, nurse a student ( studying for BSN RN then nurse practioner)
I love being an Emt and love being with the fire dept because I feel it put the medical training in the heart of where it needs to be, to people in accidents, fires and to our own men and women that risk their own safety to go in to a place most would run from! They deserve to know that if they need it medical care is waiting for them! With every training class I take for the fire dept I become more enthralled with the fire aspect of the job. Its a very exciting yet very heart breaking job. I fell that being an EMT and Firefighter, ou are saving the one thing everyone takes for granted everyday...Life!
Why I Love Fire/EMS
Being able to speed and run red lights is a huge perk but seriously, I love Knowing that what i am doing will help someone take what seems to be the wort day of their life and make sure that it dosent get any worse, to give them a chance to survive whatever they face!
Top Issues Facing Responders:
Not nearly enough department funding or volunteers!
There is also a huge problem with yuong firefighters that seem to think they are invincible and know everything and in the end that arragence gets them or someone else hurt. They have no respect for the sitaution they are in our the danger they can cause to others by their careless actions. The safety of ourselves and others is something that is always drilled into our heads from day one yet they feel they are too good to acknowledge these practices and charge in sometimes going against superiors and end up causing more risk then someone has to risk thier life to get them out. Something should be done to correct their attitude before it causes a needless death or injury.
