Then there is the DSE that looks after the State Forests/Parks in Victoria. Its the State Government that request the assistance of overseas firefighter, most of these are tactile personal and are not involved in putting the wet stuff on the hot stuff. There is no private firefighting contractors that I am aware of. However you could always look up the DSE on the internet [www.dse.vic.gov.au] and apply as a forestry firefighter of the next fire season in 2009/10? As you are young, single, fit and like to be a mountain goat. it is physical work. all the best.
