Why I Joined Fire/EMS
I always wanted to be a firefighter and it kinda runs in the family,The fire chief who just retired in my town was family and my grandfather was a chief where he lives for a long time so im just keepin the fire dept going in my family. Besides all of that, I just love it,who wouldnt wanna go stormin outta a fire house in a big truck with lights and sirens to go play in fire...its got to be the biggest rush ever, not to mention i just like helping people...
Why I Love Fire/EMS
The feeling of knowing im helping people and still doing somthing that I love to do no matter how hard or dangerous it may be.
Top Issues Facing Responders:
I haven't been doing this very long but one major thing that I can see, or for my department and the area I live in is the opposition from civilians; many of them dont understand why we do what we do and that tends to cause issues at times. Something else that comes to mind is training and equipment; my department doesnt do a very good job of corridinating training days and equipment overview which is a vital part of this job becuase if you cant operate your equipment it makes you a risk and you dont need to be there bc thats how you get someone or yourself hurt. I cant speak for the fire department overall in the country though because I havent been doing this long enough to give a valid opinion.

So we had a tornado where i live the other nite.there were several storms that had already come through West TN but they all went north of us when finally one more cell began tracking towards my county.First it hit a little town outside of Jackson, hit the interstate, and then came through the middle of north Jackson and kept tracking.

When it came through Jackson i saw it bc i wasnt far from where it was,it was kinda cool bc it was green and all the lightning was green, but it was dark…

So..tonite was good, started out kinda slow but none the less fun.I was chillin at the house wen around 11:45pm Station 7,11,&12 got a fire alarm call to a brush fire that was pointless.Me and my boy Ed got there and put that shit out quick,it was a sad excuse for a camp fire more or less that didnt need to be put out.We did get Station 11's engine truck stuck in the mud tho,so those of u that enjoy muddin and pullin out Z71's,u aint done shit till uve pulled out a FIRE TRUCK,haha,it was…
