My Training:: I have just became an active firefighter. I have been involved in the fire dept for several years, assisting with activies. I have attended several hours of firefighter training. I am also a registered nurse.

About Me:: I am married. I have 3 children and 2 step-sons. My husband is an EMT-P and a firefighter. I am active in our church. I work full time at our local hospital. I was a flight nurse for 4 years and decided to return to the hospital. I enjoy playing piano and different types of sports.

Why I Joined Fire/EMS: I have been around the fire dept my entire life. My father is a volunteer fire fighter as well as my brother and husband. My brother is also the regional fire/rescue training coordinator for our area. I have always been interested in the fire dept, but it seemed to be taboo until the last few years to have a female on the department. I enjoy learning something new and helping others.

Why I Love Fire/EMS: It is exhilerating and both physically and emotionally demanding.

Top Issues Facing Responders:: Safety, to me is the biggest issue. Accountability and organization is a big issue that must be done to ensure the safety of every one on scene. Meth labs are a big safety issue today.
