Other Past or Current Departments and Organizations: Cork County Fire & Rescue Service - retained (part-time, paid) fire service. I also served for 25 years with the Army Reserve.

About Me:: I spent 19 years working in a family business but the pay couldn't support us so I joined the National Ambulance Service 6 years ago and now work as a full-time Paramedic. Spent 15 years as retained (part-time, paid) FF but had to leave when I joined the Ambulance Service as the fire service require full time availability to respond from work which I couldn't do. Leaving the fire service was one of the saddest days in my life but I had a family to provide for and had to do what was best for them.

Why I Joined Fire/EMS: I joined the fire service to earn some extra money and it looked like an interesting job. I grew to love the job but there are almost no opportunities to make a career in the fire service in Ireland. If I could find a job as a FF/Paramedic I think I would be in heaven.
