The Firefighter Guardian Angel It was the dead of the night When he walked through that door And into the smoke of a fiery store. Up the walls and across the ceiling| Waves of fire were angrily raging. With an axe in his hand and a prayer in his heart He stood for a moment and said with a start "Lord, lead me, guide me, and send me| the shadow of an angels wings to protect me." Then the Lord replied in a quiet way, "My servant of men, don't be afraid For my angels and I are by your side. And in the midst of the flames we will not hide. If this should be your last alarm. Then don't be afraid to take the angels arm. Your tears and your pain will be no more As he carries you to heaven's door. So do not fear death and and do not fear harm I will not forsake you in this alarm. I go before you and will not swerve. So go forth in peace to protect and to serve." The Firefighter comforted and relieved, sighed because he knew he had an angel and Christ by his side. By Wendy Norris, F.F.
