Oregon Regional HAZMAT Team 7 (Portland) - Report of suspicious substance at the Rose Garden sports/entertainment facility

June 29 2011 - Portland, Oregon: HAZMAT dispatched to the Rose Garden after an employee at the sports/entertainment facility found an envelope with a white powdery substance inside at 8:32am.

There was a typed note in the envelope, but no threat was mentioned.

According to local news sources, HAZMAT later determined the powder was some sort of medication intended to be sent in pill form, but that had been crushed during transport. The powder is being sent to a lab for further analysis.

Six employees who may have had contact with the envelope were isolated in the Rose Garden security office until Hazmat gave the all-clear. No one experienced any health problems, officials say.

The Rose Garden is the home facility for the NBA team known as the Portland Trail Blazers.
