North Carolina Hazardous Materials Regional Response Team 6 (RRT 6) recently aquired a Talon robot through funds allocated from the Dept. of Homeland Security grants.
The Asheville Fire Department is the host agency of RRT 6 and has said that besides responding to HAZMAT emergencies, it would also use the robot to assist the local police bomb squad with suspicious devices.
This is the first Talon robot to be aquired by any of the North Carolina Hazardous Materials Regional Response Teams.
The state's seven Hazardous Materials Regional Response Teams are under the command of the North Carolina Dept. of Crime Control and Public Safety.
