Sir,
There is a "theory" that if you keep the rubber on the road your ok. I've been down 3 times in 38 years but have had many close calls.
I'm retired after abt. 30 years "on the streets" and retired 8yrs.ago from a city outside of Denver Co.
I ride a 1976 H-D superglide converted to look like a wideglide. The only thing not new on my bike is the frame and me. After three "dumps" I was able to add a new front end, 60 spoke front 21" wheel, electronic ignition, HEI ignition, 4 plug system, dome pistons, primary belt drive, 23' handlebars, lowered rear end,has been dialed down to a hardtail and 9.5/1 compression. It has so much power I can lift the front wheel off the ground. The only problem is I can't pass a cop w/o being stopped.
My mother road H-D in the 40's.
Have you joined the IAFF/MG. I'm out of District 9, Colorado. I've been riding for 38 years and rode escort for three years. I'm 2.5 hours away from Sturgis but have never been there. If you go, you have a place to stay here if you wish. During Sturgis a lot of riders stay here in Sheridan, Wy and commute from here and come back each night.
There is a large group of IAFF/MG staying in Yellowstone, Wy and going on to Sturgis. If you don't have reservation around Sturgis you could have to stay over 100 miles away before you can find a vacancy.
Stay safe and upright.
