c 1980 n5a #3 (in service 2005) After years stuffed in my locker I decided it was time to begin to break it in before I retire..lol

well, Josh.. Its kind of a long story, I'll mail you the answer But suffice to say its one of a couple Traditions that go back to the old days... lol There are a couple of them, I do , although not all my leather pics show them, when they were being worn in service they did...lol I'll write you
