Oh yeah I'm keeping the boys in line haha. I actullay just got hired along with 11 other guys in October to go through the academy and eventually come on part time as people leave. Right now, I'm just POC for drill/ general alarms until we get done with the 'Westmont academy.' Thanks for the add brother.
Hows NYC?

Thanks. That helps.

In not knowing the correct use of the signal, and in respect of it, we have modified it to a signal 3-3-3 or something similar for non-LODD funerals.

We often use a traditional bell service and/or last alarm radio message - both of which are quite compelling.

It's something we take very seriously and consider it a huge honor when the family of one of our fallen brothers ask us to participate in and/or coordinate all of the funeral arrangements. It's a lot of work but equally rewarding.

I also have very strong feelings about which fire service funeral practices should be reserved for LODDs. Unfortunately, I see many of the practices "abused" during non-LODD funerals and what's left when an LODD occurs?

It's also my perception that some non-LODD funerals are going "over-the-top" so to speak and there's an unspoken sense of what can we do to make the next one even more special.

Just my thoughts on the subject. Thanks for the insight.

I have a question that I've been searching for the answer to for some time.

We deal with and help coordinate a lot of firefighter funerals, LODDs and non-LODDs.

in th FDNY, is Signal 5-5-5-5 reserved for LODDs or is it used to identify the death of any active member of the department, whether LOD related or not?
