It may take you two minutes to read this, but if you do NOT take the time to read this you are one of the PEOPLE this post is TALKING ABOUT.



You stay up for 16 hours

He's been up for 48 straight

You take a warm shower to help you wake up.

The rain in the middle of the interstate keeps him awake.

You complain of a "headache", and call in sick.

He's chilled to the bone, hasn't eaten all day, has the flu, and then runs into a burning building

I WISH YOU COULD



I wish you could see the sadness of a businessman as his livelihood goes up in flames, or that of a family returning home only to find their house and belongings destroyed.



I wish you could know what it is like to search a burning bedroom for trapped children, flames rolling above your head, the floor sagging under your weight as the kitchen beneath you burns.



I wish you could comprehend a wife's horror at 3 a.m. as I check her…

Good stuff, Seth! It is too bad that people truely don't understand or appreciate us until they need us...and then sometimes get spat upon later by those we've helped. It's a lot like being in the military! But we do it anyway...
BTW, where is your township? Are you near Pittsburgh? My wife is from there and her pamily is still there.
