I got to tell you though, I'm glad I dont have to do overnights at the airport. We just added a couple beds and a couch to my office to make a small "dorm room" so if the need arose we got space for three people to stay out there. I slept there last weekend and I have to tell you, the accomidations are great and its really quiet out there. Be safe out there.

Well, we had snow and rain over the weekend of the 11th and 12th. Didnt want it to come so soon but it did. My boss and I ended up plowing about a half inch of slush off the runways the morning of the 12th, that was a long day. Other than that, things are holding up pretty good.

Things are going good in the 'ol west. Things are winding down a bit and were getting ready for snow removal. I'm trying to get some powerpoints together for reccurent ARFF training, they should make my job as Training Officer a lot more easier. Have some more trainings with our Mutual Aid department and hoping we can get those in before the snow starts to fly.

Here at Dickinson, we have only one staffing the truck at any given time and trust me when I say its a pain in the butt. One person driving the truck to the scene, talking on the UNICOM frequency to air traffic and talking on the other radio to our mutual aid department is near impossible, I had to do it that way back in May. DIK is such a small airport that I cant see 3 or 4 persons working on shift but it would be nice to have 2 people on shift at any time. One other thing that would be nice, at least for me anyway, is not to have my Airport Manager on the shift roster or anything to do with ARFF. Thats another story in itself and to make a long story short, he is 2 years younger than me and his ego is way to big to be apart of any shift we run for ARFF. I guess I have to live with it for the time being.

Hi Michael. I work here at DIK. Its a regional airport with only 3 round trips a day. Small but the job is good. Let me ask, what are your views on staffing ARFF? At any time there is only one person here staffing the truck for all inbound at outbound flights. Any insight you have would be great.

It would be great if the WCHA got their own channel. I'm with you about the Gophers games. We get a cable channel up here that shows college hockey games but 90% of them seem to be the gophers! I'm torn a bit because I know the asst. coach John Hill, he's a great guy and I like him.....but come on just too many gopher games! I'm with you I'm already on the count down for when the games start back up......although I don't want to rush the summer to fast. Our summers up here are short but beautiful so I don't want to wish it away to fast. lol Take care and I"ll talk to you soon.

We make almost all the games unless our son has a hockey game at the same time. Since I work for Athletics at the Sports complex we get free season tickets every year. I love hockey (I use to play myself) so even though the Seawolves struggle alot I still enjoy watching and supporting our student athletes. I have heard that your home arena is an awesome place and that the fans are great....I just got a chance to watch the Rangers/Penguins game from yesterday. I was working as a EMT at a Karate Tournament so I missed it.....I was bummed with two home grown guys on the Rangers (Scotty Gomez and Brandon Dubinsky) I was cheering them on but.....bummer. Take care and I'll talk to you soon. Be Safe
