About Me:
My name is Jimi I have had an interesting and educational sort of life so far. I always try and help others, at least those who do not take advantage. I have a select few friends. There are many others I call friends, more like general acquaintances, doesn’t mean I treat them differently just don’t necessarily trust them as much. After graduating high school from the good ol boy, misguided town of Wagoner (not bitter or nothing). I left the town, the state and went south. To nowhere Dumas, Ark. worked in a prison for about six years. That was a growth experience. I Thought I loved the job until I left. Moved back, went back to school and went to work for a contract agency in the field of social work EOYS/Weslyan Youth, they contracted to DHS and OJA with several family based/foster care programs as well as some detention centers. I had a three great mentors while working there. Tom, Dewitt, and Anetta. all the lives i had seen them impact, never so much as mine. While doing that I was a CASA investigator for a couple of great judges in McAlester. I was also a member of the Eastern Oklahoma Chapter of the American Red Cross I taught CPR and was a Life Guard Instructor I enjoyed that, didn’t so much enjoy the trips I took to disaster scenes, (sad) and I was a volunteer councilor once a year at camp PLEA a law enforcement summer camp for DHS and OJA kids. I came to the conclusion that the way the government ties the hands of the social workers, and the payscale limit they placed on limited education instead of experance, I was going to end up bitter or insane. So I left all that behind, hoping to use all these learned skills in a positive way. Got into retail management. Had a bad exprence with a not so honest partner i have taken that instride and continue to excell. I kind of like it though you see a lot of wonderful people. I had gotten so tainted I forgot that good people out number the not so good. When I got to the strange little town of Okay. My stepbrother who is the asst. Chief of Okay’s Fire Rescue, knowing my medical background, he began harassing me about joining the Fire Department. I kept refusing to join. He talked me into attending their monthly meeting under the guise it was a BS session and the fire fighters need to set up a CPR training. While standing behind me introducing me to the other fire fighters, he covertly and expertly laid an application in front of me. I looked around the room all the firefighters were staring directly into my eyes. What could I do, I caved and joined. I have yet to admit to and thank my brother for this. I was sent to Muskogee EMS and became an EMT First Responder; I have subsequently been trained in many areas of rescue and fire fighting. I am now the training officer. I was not one of them kids who wanted to be a fire fighter when they grew up, but all I can say about the last 8 years is I love this shit. My fellow fire fighters are real and all have walked threw the flames and waded threw the blood with me. Which has forced me to create a new classification of friends, I simply call them my brothers and sisters and they are not limited to my fire department. It seems I have come full circle. I think I’ll stay.

Why I Joined Fire/EMS
I was kinda tricked into it. I was not one of the kids that wanted to be a FF when they grew up. i Wanted to be rich. while working in the social work, i was introduced to red and became a instructor for first aid, CPR for the professionals, and a life guard instructor. I moved to Okay where my brother was the assistant chief with Okay Fire and Rescue. Knowing my background he being harassing me about joining the FD. I kept refusing until on day he ask me to attend a meeting under the guise the FF's needed CPR updates and he would like me to work out a schedule for a class. while introducing me to the other FF's my brother covertly and expertly laid a application in front of me. with all the other FF's looking on i caved to peer pressure and joined. They issued me gear, pager, and radio before they ever did a back ground check on me. i think i was shanghaied. i have sense been sent to many EMT, Fire, Rescue classes i am now the training officer with Okay Fire Rescue and all i can say is I LOVE THIS SHIT.
Why I Love Fire/EMS
i enjoy helping others
