Why I Joined Fire/EMS
Second generation, I've been around it all my life. I started as a junior firefighter at the age of 14. This is the only thing I've done for any amount of time that I was good at. Well, this and being a man whore.
Why I Love Fire/EMS
I get to follow my Dad's foot steps. I'll never fill his shoes, just follow the steps.
Top Issues Facing Responders:
Pay, manning and equipment upgrades. Can you go any where in this Great Nation and find an all volunteer law enforcement agency? NO, NO, No! Every community should be offered the highest amount of protection. I guess it's ok to have ones personal belongings stolen with the posibility of getting them back. But if your belongings (pictures, keepsakes, irreplaceable belongings, YOUR LIFE) go up in flames, that's just fine! Within the Department I currently work for its the fact that our Chief and Deputy Chief are idiots and need to retire!!! Honestly, they are our biggest road block to progress and proactivity. Antiquated SOG's, great ideas with terrible application, poor Department management, lagging and out of date equipment & apparatus, no line item budgets or projected/rollover accounts. New firefighters don't even have proper uniforms and gear! I could go on for hours.

Don't forget where you came from!

At what point does an individual forget where they came from or stop being progressive in the fire service. Unless a person sucks their way through the ranks or back doors a position of management, we should NEVER forget what got us to be successful in our craft! If a person wants to aspire to be a chief officer or "the" chief officer, they would have to have some sort of education that takes years to accomplish. These classes take time and dedication. The material is usually more progressive… Continue

Hey Rick, thanks for the comment. Our club has been around since February of 2008. We ride with alot of other firefighter clubs in the area. Haven't seen or heard of too many Fire & Iron Chapters up around here. Anyone is welcome to ride with us, the invite is always there. Be safe down your way and God Bless!
