Hi Dennis, Now I am the one who has been AWOL! LOL I went to EMT school and didn't have any life at all while I did that and worked full time. I have to take the National Registry Exam on the 16th of this month and then I hope I'll get picked up by Rural Metro Ambulance company for starters. Do you ever visit the IACOJ website? I tend to go there more than here. They have become sort of family for me there. I go by "hotflash" there. (if that doesn't age me I don't know what does!) If you do, look me up and drop me a line. I'd still like your permission to post your poem "They Fight The Devil" on my facebook acct. I won't do it if you don't say it's okay but I really liked it. Take care and stay safe!

Hi Dennis,

Thanks for the friend accept. Although my family and friends say I am not, I am really kind of shy. Having just joined this site, I am a little nervous about how firefighters might relate to mere wannabe's! Wish I had followed my dreams 20 years ago, but at least my brother lives my dream!

Interestingly, you and my brother seem to have a bit more in common than firefighting. He is a Generation/Transmission Power Dispatcher for Pacific Power & Light, and Resident Firefighter for East County Fire & Rescue. He and his wife and SIX kids live in a house that doubles as a fire station. He is also a member of FFN but apparently doesn't check in very often as he has not yet accepted my friend request!

I really ejoyed your poem, "They Fight the Devil" in Firefighter's Poems
and wondered if you might allow me to post it in a "note" on my facebook page?

Hope to "chat" soon.

Karen

Hey Dennis, if you didn't know, the campus closed for a few years and has since reopened as a Christian school. It is also the home to a number of missonary groups, and what used to be the football field is now a single family home retirement community and a nursing home. The barns are gone and that whole area is a sporting complex run by "Athletes in Action" (a group run by christian professional athletes). On the topic of patches, we don't have any traders but, send an address to my email:
jbruggeman@ci.xenia.oh.us and I will send a patch to you.

Hey Dennis, what made you leave the "Sportsman's Paradise"? I'll see what I can do about the patch swappin, I'm going to be off for a couple days to celebrate my birthday, but as soon as I get back to the station I'll check with my chief. Take Care Bro!

Dennis, welcome to the Nation. I am glad you joined the group. There is lots to do, read and become involved with here. Dont be shy just jump in anywhere and get your feet wet. Your involvement is important to us all. You will get out of this what you put into it. May take some time to kinda figure it all out but I have found this site well worth the effort. Have fun and be safe.
