The Calcasieu Emergency Response Training Center announces 2nd Annual Special Techniques and Response Training Fest (S.T.A.R.T.) scheduled for July 9 - 11, 2010 at the Sulphur,La Ninth Grade Campus located at 600 Willow St., Sulphur, La. 70663

Students will have some exciting training classes to choose from as well as a vendor area with the latest emergency response equipment and fire apparatus.

This event is growing and in its second year S.T.A.R.T. FEST 2010 will be the largest annual training conference in Southwest Louisiana.

S.T.A.R.T. FEST 2010 provides excellent training classes geared toward Emergency Responders and it consist of classes that will provide your department training to make your next emergency response scene run more efficiently and safely. CERTC is proud to be a sponsor of this event and we invite emergency responders from all over the Gulf Coast to attend. All classes are FREE of charge so get your department ready for S.T.A.R.T. FEST 2010.

The Equipment show will be Saturday, July 10, 2010-8:00am to 6:00pm. The vendor area will consist of more than 50 booth spaces with the latest in fire and rescue equipment, apparatus manufacturers will also be on hand with numerous fire trucks equipped with the latest technology. This will be a family event so bring your families and enjoy a day of fun and fellowship with emergency responders from throughout the Gulf Coast. Door prizes such as gift cards, fire helmets, t-shirts, hand tools, etc. will be given away every hour during the equipment show.

The Calcasieu Emergency Response Training Center has put together some awesome training for Emergency Responders.
I have worked hard to find great instructors and i really would like to see all of you in one of the classes.

Franklin, La. We have:
2 Stations ~ 1 primary, 1- unmaned volunteer station.
Combination, 6~full time staff, 35~volunteers
1 person on duty (unless training a newbe) 24 on, 24 off (3days on w/ 4 off) Like an Acadian Ambulance schedule.
Approx. 600 calls a year.
70 % Medical Calls ~ including m.v.a.'s
25 % Fire Calls
5 % Misc. Calls.
We cover 125 sq. mi. not including mut-aid or auto-aid related calls.
Total Area w/ above, approx. 400 sq.mi.
1- primary station w/ 1-pumper, 1-rescue unit, 1- aerial unit, 1- surburban service unit.
1-Volunteer station w/ 3-pumpers (mainly backup units or to service the other side of town and out of town calls.)

I work for Bayou Cane Fire Dept in Houma LA. We have:
4 Stations
4 Engines 1 reserve
2 Ladders 100' and 57' and 1 reserve 75'
2 Squad trucks 1 air 1 backup rescue
1 rescue/DC truck
Command Post
We run between 3500- 4000 call a year including EMS calls
We are a combination dept. majority paid with at least 12 ppl per shift working 24/48

approximatly 40-45 sq miles protected by 6 stations
Central-2 Engines,1 medium rescue, 1 HazMat (HME Chasis), 1 107' Ladder truck manned by 8 ppl (1 Dist Chief, 1 Captain, 6 Opr/FF
Station 2-1 Engine manned by 2 ppl (1 Opr or above, 1 FF or above
Station 3-2 Engines (1 front line, 1 reserve) Manned by 2 ppl (1 Opr or above, 1 FF or above
Station 4-1 Engine, 1 Tanker Manned by 2 ppl (1 Opr or above, 1 FF or above
Station 5-1 Engine, 1 Rescue (Reserve), 1 CFR mANNED BY 2 ppl (1 Captain, 1 FF or above
The 6th station is not manned by city employees nor is it civil service. It is actually a different dept but we have the same Chief, they are dispatched by us and we run calls with them. They generally handle all their own EMS calls, vehicle fires, and grass/woods fires, unless they need extra assistance, we roll automatically if there is a vehicle accident or structure fire in their area.
They have 2 Engines, 1 Rescue
It is manned by 2 ppl (1 Opr or above, 1 FF or above)
We are a full time paid dept civil service dept.
We work 24/48
Shift 1 has a captain at station 4
Shift 2(my shift) has a captain at station 2
Shift 3 has a captain at station 3
There is a captain on duty every day at central and station 5 plus a captain in administration who works days, he is also the captain of the HazMat team
