I'm just wondering if anyone on here is from around the Seattle/Tacoma area and if you would happen to know of any Volunteer dept's around. I tried getting on with Graham Fire Dept and failed. And honestly I'm not all that interested Paid/on call dept, it's just not what I'm used to, and the money is really not why I got into the business. Also, all my certs were from Alaska, and they have since expired, any suggestions on where to get the local schooling for EMT certs. Thanks.

Welcome, most of the rural departments are combination but you will need to live where you volunteer. The 2 links above are the best places for fire training but if you are just looking for EMT than Tacoma Community College is the place to go. Good luck.

I'm a volunteer at Vashon Island Fire & Rescue and we're taking applications for volunteer firefighters right now. We have our own academy and everything is paid for. We just did an EMT class and I think the next one is in the spring. Check us out at VIFR.org. We're always taking apalications but to get into our next academy that starts september you have to get it in by the end of this month. The B/C of training B/C Coll will work with you about your certs if any of them are current. The lady the takes care of all the volunteer stuff is Susan Wolf and her number is 206-463-4466. Let me know if you have any questions.
