Why is it in some states, volunteers of half-N-half(paid&volunteer) departments can not use there personal vehicals to respond to a dire emergency. It is pointless and completely out of the question to rush home to your own emergency vehical when you could just respond in the one your in.
what do you think??
Well we dont have restrictions on povs but there is always a chanch all your responders go to the scene and not to the station. Its kinda hard to fight a fire without any apparatus. There is also the fact that you end up with to many vehicles on scene and the apparatus cant get where they need to be. We did have one fire that no one got the apparatus I told myself that I wouldnt let that happen again so I respond to the station every time unless ive heard the trucks roll.
In my dept we do not have a restriction when responding to a scene in a Pov's. Wes makes some good points in his post, in why it is prob best to respond to the fire house 1st then stright to the scene, but i also see sometimes where it might be nesscary to do that go stright to the scene, i have seen a few time guys driving stright to the scene but that is mostly with structure fires and they are not near town when the page goes out.
