All I ever wear are either my eyeglasses or sunglasses. I've never found goggles to work well. Goggles are usually something stuffed into the dark corner of a compartment to make the engine inventory "complient". If smoke is that thick, goggles won't do any good for not being able to breathe. JMO
Hi ya after 18 years of doing wildland/forest fires thay are something that just take up room in your pack, A good pair of wrap around safetyglasses or sun glasses are the best things to have.
I caried a extra pair in my wildland gear all the time.
I carry goggles, but like Dave and R.C. have said, safetyglasses are best. I wear the ESS ICE 2, both tinted and clear. Because I wear prescription glasses, I bought the RX insert for the ICE 2 and have been very pleased with the results.
