I really don't know, My gear is about thirteen years old, and soooooo faded, the reflective stripes, are barley visible. But seeing as I have only been with the department for a year know, I can't complain. What brands are there???
We are currently using Globe and abdolutly love them. We have a few sets of old morning pride but have them issued to guys who don't respond very much. The only complaint I have with the Globe is ours are highback and it gets a little uncomfortable when riding in our apparatus for a long time (mutual aid calls), but they are great other than that. I guess its just personal prefrance.
Ours are Fire master. they have the tall paints and short coat. I love mine.
I joined the fire service with Morning Pride and I hope to stay in Morning Pride as long as possible, I think Morning Pride offers more options than other companies, and I like the beaver tail, which you only can get on Morning Pride gear, it provides more protection when your are crawling around.
Fire Dex.which i don't like rather go back to globe
We use the globe G-Xtreme and i love it...by far the best gear i have ever worn
Hi, I'm Vern, a Volunteer in San Juan County, NM. We have the new G-Extream turn out gear and we love it. It is lighter than Morning Pride, it is easier to move around in, but we still get the protection we need to keep the heat off of us.
I personally don't care who makes the gear what i like is the longer coats i find the short coats tend to ride up around the waste and i don't like that.
Most of our people curently have the old school style Globe but as we need new gear or new members come on and we dont have ones that we cannt fit them with we are switching to gXtrene new school by Globe. Fortunately I was one of the 1st 4 people who got the new gear and love it. Ive had morning pride and Globe in the past and hope I never have to go back to them. The gXtrene is so much more comfortable with plenty of room to move around in and it dont bunch up or restrict shoulder and leg movement. Its the first turnout gear ive had that you dont have to wear the suspenders with just to hold the pants up just because they weigh so much. The waist on the bunker pants actually fit like a pair of jeans. I would recommend them to any dept looking for new gear the price is well worth the fit and comfort and protection on a long call.
I'm in a brand new set of fire dex, bin pants and short coat, love it so far excepty for break in period, hold rather than black, little cooler in the summer
i prefer globe short coat and bib style pants. my dept is all globe except me they bought me firepel short coat and bib style pants.. i like some of the differences between the firepel and the globe. the firepel had thicker knees then the globe. and bigger hip pockets then the globe. globe is lighter then the firepel tho
I have only worn Globe turnouts. My first was the older PBI material as a Junior and now I have the G-Xtreme, circa 2005-ish.I love the fit of my gear as well as the location and storage space of the pockets. My personal favorite feature would have to be the hand warmers underneath the storage pockets on the jacket. As compared to Morning Pride the cost is way cheaper and just as durable.
