I am only 24 years old but I have been around volunteer fire departments all my life. I back my truck into the driveway and I always have my pager within hearing distance. I love the sound of the tone going off and I am up and running before I even know what the call is, I really hate the weekly pager tests even though I am a full-time fire dispatcher who does these test and should know their days and times. I hate being at work and having to dispatch my department, I would much rather be on the call. I hate being out of the area where I can't hear if we have a call and one of the first things I do when I get back is go to the station and check the log reports. At times when I am bored I will run calls with our neighboring department, even the ones in another county. Even though I am in the process of going career in a city a few miles to the north of where I live I will never quit serving my community and doing what I love as a volunteer
