Talk me out of it
So i have recently been promoted to a Lt. As a firefighter i wore my yellow leather. However now that im on probation as an Lt i have to wear the red salad bowl. I hate it. Once i get off probation im going back to a tradish. But im looking at the new 1010 with the new visor. But on the other hand i just want to repaint the leather i have. Or just buy an new Red leather to mark my achevments. does anyone have any advise. Or atleast talk me out of thinking of wearing a plastic tradish.

go with buying a red leather, nothing says you had a good fire career better than a room full of burnt black, yellow, red, and white helmets when u decide to hang it up.

I have most of the helmets I have used over 35 years. I love having them. But I will admit I have only purchased on leather. I do like Williams comments though. I guess I would agree buy a new one for this new phase of your career.

Just think leather foreever thats says it all plus if you buy a new one then you will have one to hang on the wall.

If it all possible, I would buy a new leather to mark the silliest move any of us could ever make(becoming an Officer). Juat kidding, boss. Congrats on your new job and welcome to the world of Fire Officers which is also known as Wonka Land.
