I have been on the job for 10 plus years and I have had the same Carins Sam Houston leather helmet the entire time. It has been through some good fires and when I get promoted I am planning on sending it in to Carins and having them repaint it red so I can continue using it with the next stage of my career.

I would have bought one of those, just to have the NFPA rating if..
It didn't weigh more, and it wasn't an extra 100 bucks for a lexan inner cap.

I'm getting my gear inspected tonight by the TO. We'll see if my n5a is acceptable

Im on my second New Yorker, yes its heavier that the 1010's etc, but I love tradition and a leather helmet has tradition written all over it!

Just got my third leather, a New Yorker. Have had a Phenix and did not like the fit. Sold a Sam Houston to by the new New Yorker and holding on to my other New Yorker.......for now!
