2009 Lt. Brad Hutcherson Memorial Fire School
Saturday, November 7th, 2009

Thanks to many, the 2nd Annual Lt. Brad Hutcherson Memorial Fire School (LTBHMFS) was another success story. Just shy off 100 people attended the event, which seemed to have something for everyone. 8 different classes provided emergency responders with some of the best training available at an affordable price. There were memorial t-shirts and stickers for sale, a raffle, and some great food. All these things rolled into one to help raise money for our scholarship fund. This fund provides continued training to deserving emergency responders and their agencies in Lt. Hutcherson's name. We presented our first scholarship out in October of 2009 and are hoping to give out many more in the years to come.

The LTBHMFS Advisory Board and Brad's family would like to thank the instructors, staff, attendees, and sponsors for another fantastic event. We could not hold such a quality event without your involvement and participation. Special thanks to Mayor Billy Wilson [of Greenbrier, Tennessee], The Greenbrier F.D., the City of Greenbrier, and Greenbrier High School for the support of facilities, equipment, and personnel for set up, preparation, etc. We also appreciate The White House Community VFD, Pleasant View VFD, Heritage Fire, Franklin FD, Nelms Fire Co., and the Cheatham County Firefighter's Association for the use of apparatus, simulator, equipment, and props. We also had several raffle prizes donated by businesses and individuals. Check our website sponsor tab for a full list and support these businesses, people, and organizations every opportunity you get. We were also honored to have Lt. Governor Ramsey stop in to speak with us and show support for the emergency services.

We have several things for to look forward to in the coming months. We will be posting photos from the 2009 Fire School on our website, so be looking for you and your co-workers. There were several photographers on site, so we should have some great shots. The Advisory Board will be reviewing your critique forms and take your suggestions to improve for the 2010 event. We also have several Instructors that have already committed to next years event, so be watching for their class information. We hope to select a date for the 2010 Fire School event as well.

If you participated in the 2nd Annual event, we'd again like to thank each of you. Your attendance, sponsorship, support, and donations made a difference and help keep one of Brad's dreams alive. We hope to see each of you again next year, and please bring a friend. We hope it was a positive experience for you and one that reflects Brad's love for training, the fire service, and helping the community.

Stay safe,

Captain (Trey) Nelms, Fire School Director
