Here lately, I heard a lot of people from around Ohio say, "My protocol says this/that". Maybe I was a little nieve, but I didn't think that the protocols varied that much around the state. Let me know how you do that voodoo...and maybe I'll do one of these for fire SOP's or something like that

Overall, these are the averages I've seen around central Ohio...
RSI...some do, some don't, but seems to be gaining popularity
Basics intubating...most do, but some rare depts dont' let them tube at all
New EMT-I protocol drugs...yes to most all FD's, but still trouble in private EMS

Most of the changes that come to the different levels of care in Ohio are driven by the more rural areas of Ohio. These are the areas that tend to have longer transports and less medics, if any at all. They need to have these levels of care. They lobby hard for the changes and the changes are primarly aimed at them. The medical control doctors in Northeast Ohio, from my experience, do not allow basics or intermediates to perform skills that were previously medic only skills. This is due to the fact the there are medic available.
