Aloha to the new generation fire fighters! I would join this group, but I am 41. Although I have been in the fire service for 19 years, I still consider myself a new generation firefighter. Why? Because I do not believe in crapping on the new guys, nor do I subscribe to the idea that the way we did it in 1990 is the best way. We owe it to our industry and those we serve to strive to learn more and perform better than those who precede us. If I can do my job more safely and with better, lighter, safer equipment, than I owe it to my brothers and my family to do so. There is no excuse for not being a new generation fire fighter, no matter how old you are!
