How does everyone train new persons that want to become investigators? Do you use "OJT"? Do you require them to attend school first or some classess? do you have an in house program? Or do you turf guard because you might be training your replacement(s)
My personal expierence began when was assigned to be a "dig person" for an investigator who was nice enough to answer my questions about what it was he did
I joined my county's arson task force and attended investigation classes before being accepted into the state fire college's fire investgator school. A year later i took and passed the national board exam
Every fire is a chance to learn or teach something and i allways took the opprutinunity to help anyone that had an interest by letting them tag along and see what it was all about. Some just wanted to be a part of the team and wear the cool insignia. Others were turned off by the amount of paperwork. the fire investigation field has changed so much as the forensic end keep getting better and better. Please share your expierence with others and allow them to learn with and from you.
