As I lay awake in the middle of the night. Having the same dreams, but they are not dreams. They are the people that I have seen die and the faces of death. Becaue no one death is the same. The only thing that they have in common is the family that is there wanting miracles. But even then there are always those that have passed and been gone for 3 to 4 weeks before people have checked on them. So do you feel bad that they have died or the fact that nobody cared enough to check on them or that they died alone? Then the one dream that comes to naturally, were im in a fully involved fire with my brother doing the deed then the floor gives and were gone. Then there is the funneral where you see yourself lying there and your brothers are standing there and those that are close to you moarning over your death.
The dreams that firefighters and other emergency responders have, be them waking or sleeping dreams, are yet another sacrifice given by these heroes. The job brings them on, yet willingly they return to the job and even live for it. I'm a supporter, not yet an emergency responder, but I appreciate the struggles and sacrifices made for the passion of your job. Thanks for sharing your soul and thanks for what you do to make the world a little safer, a little better. Stay safe, friend.
