I know one thing when I first joined my 2 department the Capt and Deputy Chiefs did not care for me because I was a f email but I stuck it out.. Th Fire Chief was getting frustrated over the discrimination so one day he told the staff to look out for me be cause I had more training than anyone in the including himself. The Chief was tring to put females on the department so he could probe the women can do the job. I became FF of the year in 1984 just before I became an engingeer..

I have seen other chief's having a hard time still because their are sstill discrimination going on. Even here in Phoenix.
