Roadtrip to Galena, IL.
Took a great ride to Galena today.
For the history buffs, you will know that this was the home to U S Grant. I have toured his home many times. Many who live there have refurbished their 1800s homes.
The downtown has many unique shops and on the north side, there is Wilmerts Harley Davidson.
Any trip to Galena would not be complete without a stop at Poopy's in Savannah. Poopy's is a bike shop, tattoo parlor and restaurant. Tomorrow they are hosting the rock band Jackal.
It was perfect weather today.
Bought a new helmet and some great cigars from Churchill and Burns cigar store. Wife spent some money too.
If you ever get the opportunity, take the ride through the Galena mountains. Judging from all of the bikes headed to Galena today, I'd say many had the same idea.

We had a good run yesterday in South East Texas. Temperature was only 95 with a heat index of 107. We went to a "Tug of War" on the San Bernard River. The towns on the west side of the river challenged to towns on the east side to a tug of war, across the river. A 2" line was pulled across the river and 12 people on each side tried to pull the other team into the river. Even with 24 people pulling on the rope, it just cleared the surface of the river. No one got wet from the river, but the sweat had everyone soaking.
Someday some of you need to come to this part of Texas and learn how this state got started, like May of next year. -
