Firematics camp for Young Women - July 19-24, Utica NY
Hi everyone:
This year, the Fire Service Women of New York State, in partnership with the Utica Fire Department and the Westmoreland Volunteer Fire Department, will host our third annual Phoenix Firecamp - a firematics camp for young women. The camp is based of the Camp Blaze model. Information can be found at the Fire Service Women of New York State (FSWNYS) website - www.fswnys.org
If you know of a young woman, ages 14-19, who wonders what it would be like to be a firefighter/EMT, or, a young woman who is already involved in fire and emergency services but would like to work on her skills and meet other girls who share her interest in firefighting, this is a great camp for her. Our campers range from having no experience to having their Firefighter 1. The camp is staffed by paid and volunteer women firefighters and EMTs who volunteer their skills, time, and expense during the week of camp. Again, for more information, please to the website. We are still accepting staff volunteer applications as well, preference given to FSWNYS members.

Hey, does anyone know if there is a compatible program for Ohio residents? Sounds like an awesome program! My sister is 19 and just started her 36 hr vol. ff here... I think this would be something ladies of all ages would enjoy, to be honest. Anyway, thanks in advance for your time...!

I don't know of any similar program in Ohio at this time. There are overnight camps in Kansas and New Hampshire (try googling Camp Inferno and Camp Fully Involved as well as Camp Blaze - the original west coast camp). But, there do seem to be more camps coming about - so I would certainly recommend doing a thorough search.
Phoenix Firecamp of the Fire Service Women of New York State does welcome out of state as well as Canadian residents, however, we do not provide transportation to camp. Anyone under the age of 18 must be dropped off and picked up at camp by a parent, guardian, or parent approved adult.
