We have @ this point went to all cattle and hay and are doing much better thank God for show stock
any one else out there raisin cattle if so what kind. The holstiens payed for the farm but now its all beef

um we use to but we had to down size by over half our stock ,, and now we only do horses and hay,, but we are trying to get bigger agean and buy more heads of horses and cattle in the end i hope it all works out ,, but we still have a lot more sleppless weeks and bleading hands (if you know what i mean )befor we are done
we have charlioas,angus and a bunch of worthless beef masters there just something about the flop ear cattle that makes the price go way down
That sounds like me in calving season dad to old to get up every 3 hours and check cows and our farmhand is a good worker but not the brightest so its 7 days a week for two months to the barn every 3 hours
i have 2 cows now ones a red and white bull and ones a brahma heffer and im going to get more holstne bulls to raise for steers
Thats were the moneys at buy em cheap feed to about 500 and ship em
I am still raising cattle but only 3-7 at a time, my "day job" gives me lots of customers so it is easy to move the meat when I am ready. Mostly Hereford and Angus but it depends on what is available.

Herefords
1 Jersey cow and about 8 beef cattle. My family has 50 acres, but mostly small animals.
