nothing like holding c spine in 20 degree weather on your knees on an icey deck wearing ems pants. stupid dispatcher said "pt will be located in the living room area of the residense" looks like ima throw the good ol tournouts on for ems calls when its cold.

well I guess pennslyvania is talking about bringing back The EMT-I under the name of Advanced EMT and I guess theres going to be a nationwide change from first responder to EMR(Emergency Medical Responder)

i know in pennslyvania theres first responders, emt-b, and emt -p.
in pennslyvania theres things in the national training ciriculum for first responder you cant not do in pennslyvania. like the use of a short board, rapid extrcation, ect i think if theres going to be a national training ciriculum then every state needs to have the same protocals then

robert iv always been taught the dcap-btls method in both ny and va. not exactly sure what you mean by the DOTS

robert i know that the basics are the same how ever some areas take on the added responsibility of allowing there states emts do more. i know in both va and ny not only do you have state protocals but you also have regional protocal as well. and example is in va in one area a emt b can drop a combie tube, give certian non iv medications and set up a 12 lead, and in other parts of the state the can do none of that. all comes down to what the state and OMD's are comfortable with allowing the providers under there direction do.

lol sounds fun ralph, when i was in va me and my crew had a probie fresh out of the fire academy and emt class covering one of the guys shift. so at about 3 in the morning i set off the station alarm ( only ppl at the station were the on call ppl for the first out engine) run into the bunk room and start yelling come on probie we got a priority call.he jumps up stubles putting his turnout pants on ( we had to wear bunker pants on ems calls and have the rest of our gear in the truck) so he finaly hops in the truck and we take off out the station. lol im quizing him the hole time about local portocal for mva and trauma then he ask "what kind of call is it?" so i was like umm its a code. we go around the block (no lights normal driving) we back into the station and he hops out goes to the side compartment and starts grabing the jump bag and aed. lol didnt even realize we had backed into the station... the look on his face was priceless
